Sorting sorting!
A stormy harvest!
Some thunder and heavy precipitation
But it was off to a good start! Our tour of the plots at the end of August had convinced us of a fine harvest ahead, but the rain on September 1st in Savennières dampened our optimism. From 11 September onwards, the team of pickers began by carefully sorting the grapes, leaving the beautiful Chenin bunches to ripen.
On 15 and 16 September, we actually harvested the young parcels of Pitrouillet and Petite Roche (Cuvée l’Alliance) as well as some of the parcels of Chambourcier (Cuvée Champ Bourcier) and Moulin de Beaupréau (Cuvée Les Genêts). Although we may have lost a few hectolitres to the acetic attack, the hard work of sorting the grapes meant that the harvest could be speeded up and only the best chenins returned to the press.
